FLORIDA DUNCAN FRAZEE FERGUSON was the daughter of Lawson Wheatley and Mary Frances Canafax Duncan of Greenup County, Kentucky. She was born October 2, 1863 at Kehoe, Greenup County, Kentucky.

Florida's brothers and sisters were Levina Luanna S. Duncan who married Henry Blentlinger, George Gibson Duncan who married Melissa Alexander, Edward Calvin "Ted" Duncan who married Minnie Amanda Cooper, who was a clerk in the Cooper and Duncan General Merchandise Store in Kehoe, Jefferson Morgan Duncan who married Emma Jane Dixon, they are buried at Rushtown, Scioto County, Ohio, and brother Allen Camelion Duncan who was married to Melissa Hale, they lived in Antrim County, Michigan.

Florida was married to William Fleming "Willie" Frazee (my great-grandfather), son of Lewis Virgil and Sarah Ann "Sally" Smith Frazee, on December 2, 1888. Their daughter Sarah Frances was born on September 2, 1889 in Greenup County, Kentucky. It is not known exactly how long Florida and William Frazee were married, but they divorced when their daughter Sarah Frances was a young child. William "Willie" Frazee kept his daughter Frances (my grandmother) and raised her.

Florida was married a second time to Jefferson Ferguson on January 9, 1898 in Greenup. They were the parents of four known children- Gretta Gladys "Grettie" Ferguson, who married Herbert Abdon, Estella B. "Stella" Ferguson who married Paris Andrew Ramey and Dwight Emerson Weaver, Arthur William Ferguson who married Maud Grayson and is buried in Pike County, Ohio, and daughter Nellie Olive Ferguson who married Joseph Anton Maier, Charles A. Carroll and Richard Cox.

The 1910 Census lists Florida as "widowed" with children Gretta, Stella, Arthur and Nellie. Also listed is Annie Wooten as a "servant and cook."

Florida and her family moved from Thompson, Greenup County, Kentucky, to Franklin County, Ohio, south of Columbus, Ohio around 1919. On Florida's death certificate it is listed that she lived at 245 1/2 West King Avenue, Columbus, Franklin County, Ohio.

The 1920 Federal Census lists Florida, age 56, and her son Arthur, age 20, living together in Prairie Township, Franklin County, Ohio, near Columbus. Arthur is listed working as a freight laborer.

Florida was a homemaker, she died at the age of 80 years, 3 months and 9 days at her home in Galloway, Ohio, of "heart problems and the grippe." Her funeral services were conducted at the Feil Funeral home. She was buried at the Union Cemetery in the Old Cemetery Section 30, Lot 49, Space 5, in the heart of Columbus, Ohio.

My grandmother, Sarah Frances Pence and her son Ed traveled by bus from Portsmouth, in Scioto County, Ohio, to Columbus, Ohio, to attend Florida's funeral in January of 1944.
