Services will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, September 29, 2012 at First Baptist Church in Skellytown, with Bro. Lit McIntosh, pastor of First Baptist Church of Okemah, Oklahoma, officiating.
Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Pampa, with military honors courtesy of U. S. Army, Fort Hood, Texas. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors,
Mr. Barnett was born on January 9, 1923, in Calvin, Oklahoma to John Ivy Barnett and Amanda Smith Barnett. His family settled Sayre, Oklahoma area during his freshman year of high school. There he met the love of his life, Edith Mae Tyler, and they were married on April 11, 1942. She preceded him in death in 2007, after 65 years of marriage. He served in the U. S. Army, assigned to the 28th Division, 110 Infantry during World War II. He served as deacon to his beloved First Baptist Church of Skellytown. Walton was preceded in death by his parents; 5 brothers: Floyd, Marvin (Pete), John, Martin, and an infant brother, Elvin; and a grandson: Chris Carter.
Walton is survived by two daughters: Reva Williams of Skellytown, and Patsy Carter and husband Ken of Lubbock; one brother: Harmon Barnett of Holdenville, Ok; six grandsons, one granddaughter, six great grandsons, five great granddaughters, and an eagerly awaited great granddaughter to be born in October, and another great grandchild due in a few months. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, friends and church family who will miss him immensely, and he leaves a longtime family friend and neighbor, Larry Brown, who has been a tremendous help to him during the term of his illness and a constant help to his daughters as they cared for their father.
