Joel "Joe" M. Hiott.
Husband of Gertrude Salisbury Hiott.

This was my great uncle Joe.
One of the kindest, caring, soft-spoken men I have ever known. A true blessing to all who knew or ever had the good fortune to meet him.

Born in Colleton County, Joe was a son of Calhoun H. Hiott and Annie Fender Hiott.

Joe was an active member of Doctors Creek church.

Surviving are his wife, Gertrude Salisbury Hiott; three sons, Samuel E. Hiott of Hollywood, William F. Hiott of Walterboro and Joel D. Hiott of Charlotte; a brother, Carn Foch Hiott of Walterboro; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

The funeral was held in Doctors Creek Baptist Church, with interment in the church cemetery with Masonic rites.
