Joel was born June 22, 1940, in Walterboro, SC, to the late Joel and Gertrude Hiott. He was also preceded in death by his grandson, Steven Joel Hiott; and brother, William "Bill" Hiott.
Joel lived a dedicated life to Jesus Christ and was a member of Pitts Baptist Church in Concord, NC. He was a Sunday School teacher as well as a deacon most of his adult life.
Joel is survived by his loving wife of 62 years; two sons; grandson; granddaughter; brother; and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Monday, July 18, 2022, at Pitts Baptist Church in Concord, NC. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am - 11:45 am. The funeral service in celebration of Joel's life will follow at 12:00 pm, officiated by Rev. Scott Davis. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family would like to thank Coltrane LIFE Center, where Joel went three days a week for 14 months. All the workers were wonderful and so loving to all the participants. Joel loved going there, where he made many new friends. They had devotions, games, entertainment and provided lunch.
