Ada- Services for retired Sgt. 1st Class Boyd Eugene "Gene" Baze, 69, Ada, are 2 p.m. Thursday in the Ada First Free Will Baptist Church, the Rev. Wayne Sanmann officiating. Assisting is the Rev. Keith Burden. Burial follows in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Baze died Sept. 23, 1997, at Ada. He was born Oct. 23, 1927, at Konawa, to Joseph and Jozett Upton Baze. He was raised at Tishomingo and Wanette. He retired from the U.S. Army after 20 years and was a veteran of the Korean conflict and Vietnam War. He was a member of the Medicine Park Baptist Church in Medicine Park. He and Mary Delpha Robinson were married Oct. 3, 1947, at Gainesville, Texas. Survivors include his wife, Mary Baze, Ada; two sons, Ted Baze, Spencer, and David Baze, Ada; a daughter, Susie Russell, Lawton; three brothers, Emmitt Franklin, Hasting, Leroy Baze, and Joe Ernest Baze, both of Noble; four sisters, Eula Fay Hobson, Pauline Tarp, Imajean Farley, all of Lexington, and Ruby Richardson, Norman; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Bearers are Randy Anderson, Bob Chambers, Bob Ursy, Dan Fuller, Steve Turner, and Rick Pearce. Honorary Bearers are Curtis Hogue, Paul Alford, and Bob Jefferies.
