Second Great Grandfather.

The eldest son of Thomas and Eliza (Etter) Hosterman. He was baptized on 3 Nov 1816 (From PANS; Public Archives of Nova Scotia).

He married Sarah Minns Howe on 20 Jan 1847. She was the daughter of Hetty (Hians) and Johns Howe, Jr.

John and Sarah Hosterman had three sons, Thomas Melville, John Howe and William Charles Hosterman.

He lived and worked on the Northwest Arm operating the Melville Nail Manufactory. His brother, Charles Owen Hosterman, operated the Melville Iron Factory. This brother was married to Charlotte (Howe), Sister to Sarah Minns (Howe) Hosterman.
