Lon Fraley, Sr., Taken By Death, Funeral Friday
Lon Burdine Fraley, Sr., 82, died following a brief illness Tuesday afternoon at his home, 322 Lee Street, in Westwood. A native of Elliott Co, Mr. Fraley was born June 3, 1880, a son of the late John and Isabelle Isom (Ison) Fraley and had resided in Westwood more than sixty years. He was a retired employee of Ashland Works of Armco Steel Corp and was a member of Armco's Oldtimers Assn. Funeral services will be conducted at 2pm Friday at Fairview Missionary Baptist Church in Westwood, of which he was a member. The Rev H Bailey Sadler will officiate and burial will be in Dixon Cemetery. Surviving are the wife, Mrs. Pearl Day Fraley; six daughters, Mrs. Goldie McNeal of Westwood; Mrs. Hazel Davis of Dayton, Ohio; Mrs. Jewell Lemburg of Hollywood, FL; Mrs. Mabel Brown of Ashland; Mrs. Adelle Neal of Cattlesburg and Mrs. Helen Pfiefle of San Diego, CA; four sons, Orel Fraley of Ashland; Lon Fraley, Jr., of Ironton; W.L. Fraley of Ann Arbor, MI; Jim Fraley of McCall, Idaho; three sisters, Mrs. Hellen Fraley of Sandy Hook; Mrs. Effie Fraley of Ashland; and Mrs. Cynthia Fraley of Summit; one brother, A.B.(Arch) Fraley of Greenup and twenty-three grandchildren. The body is at Caniff Riggs Funeral Home in Westwood where friends may call after 1pm Thursday and will be taken to the church one hour before services.

Mr. & Mrs. Lon Fraley will be honored today on their golden wedding anniversary with a reception by their children for their friends and relatives, to be held between 2 and 4 o'clock this afternoon at the home of their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Carter Brown, 2622 Holt St. Their other children are Mrs. Harry McNeal and Orel Fraley of this city, Mrs. Oriel Neal of Catlettsburg, Lon Fraley, Jr., of Ironton, O., Mrs. James Horton of Dayton, O., Mrs. Henry Lemburg of Chicago, Ill, Mrs. Edward Scott, James Fraley and W.L. Fraley of Glendale, Calif. A family dinner will be held this evening at Armco Park. Mr. and Mrs. Fraley, who have 21 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, were married at Sandy Hook in Elliott County by Judge John Watson, an uncle of the bride, who is the daughter of the late Allen and Cordelia Lyons Day. Mr. Fraley is a retired Armco employee. Three of their sons served in the armed forces during World War II and four grandsons are in the armed forces now.
