Immigrated to the United States via Ellis Island on April 23, 1910. Listed on manifest of the "SS United States" as Amanda Huseby; Amanda being her middle and family nickname. She settled in NYC as a nanny. She saved her salary and brought her younger brother, Andrew (Andreas) Huseby, over a year later. She married John Arvid Hansen (an immigrant from Sweden originally Johan Arvid Hannson) and originally settled in Jersey City where her first 5 children were born. Afer building a house in Lyndhurst, John moved the family into their new home where three more children were born. Ellen Amanda was predeceased by her husband in 1957, and was survived by 8 childen, 22 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
