Aldea Z. (Fortin) Brochu, 97, passed away on Monday, August 13, 2012 at Village Manor in Plainfield. Born on May 24, 1915 in Georgiaville, RI, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Fortin and Theresa (Corbiel) Fortin. Aldea was united in marriage to Rene Brochu on October 31, 1936 in Pascoag, RI. He predeceased her. Aldea was a homemaker, raising four children. She enjoyed sewing, needlework, and loved to read. She leaves behind three daughters and sons-in-law, Diane Johns and spouse, Al Johns of Stow, MA, Catherine Utz and spouse, Fred Utz of Canterbury, and Theresa Allard and spouse, Leon Allard of Griswold; a brother, Leo Fortin of Pascoag, RI; a sister, Eva Brissette of Lantana, FL; ten grandchildren: Danny, Donna, James, Mark, Deborah, Denise, Karen, Kim, Cathy, and James; sixteen great-grandchildren; two great-great- grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Aldea was predeceased by her daughter, MaryAnn Chickering and sister, Amanda Ducharme. Visitation will take place on Thursday, August 16, 2012 from 2-4PM and 7-9PM at Leffler Funeral Home, 30 N.Main St., Jewett City. The funeral will assemble on Friday, August 17, 2012 at 9:15 AM at Leffler Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM at St. Mary's Church, Jewett City. Interment at Pachuag Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Aldea's memory to St. Mary's Food Pantry, Jewett City.
