Mrs. Oden, third of the six children of Kansas pioneers Lyman L. and Arrena (McLin) Latimer, grew up on the family farm north of Holton. On Feb. 12, 1901 she was married to Hugh Dunington Oden. They made their first home in the Netawaka area, where their first child, Harold D. was born.

Soon after that event, they moved to Caddo County, OK and made their home on a farm near Cement, where two more children, Garland and Reba, were born. Returning to Kansas in 1909, they settled again in the Holton area. Their last child, Leslie, was born there.

Survivors included her sons: Harold, Garland and Leslie; one sister; Lena Mercedes Goldsmith of Chickasha, OK; several grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1953 and her daughter, Reba, in 1956.
