Cooper Rites Tuesday In Effingham
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, 2:30 p.m. at the Christian church in Effingham for Mrs. Vera Wilson Cooper, 81, who died Friday at a nursing home in Stockton, Calif., where she had made her home since moving from this area in 1953. O'Trimble Funeral Home of Effingham is in charge. The family requests memorials to the Arthritis Foundation.
Born March 4, 1896, in St. Paul Kas., Mrs. Cooper was a daughter of John and Grace Arnett Wilson. She moved to the Effingham-Monrovia area with her parents at the age of 4, and attended grade school in Monrovia, high school at Effingham.
On April 2, 1915, she was married to guy Cooper and they moved to the Arrington-Coal Creek community in 1930, residing there until his death March 9, 1953, following which she moved to California.
Mrs. Cooper is survived by two sons, Howard Cooper, Sierra Vista, Ariz., and Donald Cooper, Saugus, Calif.; two daughters, Mrs. Fred (Dorothy0 Scott, Stockton and Mrs. William (Alice) Taliaferro, Effingham; a stepdaughter, Mrs. F. H. (Lola) Juencke, Stockton; a sister Mrs. Roy Happel, Sacramento, Calif.; 18 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Mrs. Francis (Velma) Stutz, two brothers and a sister.
