Alvin married Glo Grosfield while on a two-week leave in June 1945. In 1951, Alvin started working for the Fargo Police Department where he retired. He was active in the Pontoppidan Lutheran church serving on the deacon board and as president of the men's club.
He is survived by two sons, Alvin (Sharon), Richard, both Fargo; two daughters, Ruth (David) Stensland, Anne (David) Snyder, both Fargo; eight grandchildren; three brothers, Hans, Lawrence and Russell Berg and one sister Myrtle Brandon. He was predeceased by his parents and one sister, Evelyn Mondich.
