Amos was the son of Jacob Myers b. 2 Aug 1788 Beaver Co., PA d. 6 Nov 1881 DeKalb Co., IN and Susannah Douthitt/Donut Myers b. 16 Mar 1797 Beaver Co., PA d. 16 Mar 1877 in DeKalb Co., IN

After being married for about 9 years and having 3 children, Amos served in the 'Civil War' as a Private under Lieut. Wagstaff's Company C, 38th 'Regiment of Ohio Foot Volunteers'. August 25, 1861 in Stryker, OH, through August 3, 1863 at Camp Chase, Columbus, OH; Considered 'Not fit for Invalid Corps'.

According to his official discharge papers, Amos was 5 feet and nine inches tall, of dark complexion and had brown hair. His occupation was listed as 'Farmer'.

Amos applies for his Pension on or about March 7, 1870. Pension states that he first reported sick on January 25, 1862.

Amos Myers deceased, according to the best information of the family, was born in Ashland Co., OH August 5, 1820 where he lived until the age of 16 when he moved with his
parents to DeKalb Co., IN south of Hamilton. At the age of 18 he went to live with his Uncle George Myers who then lived on the farm which is now the 'Williams County Infermery Farm'. Amos worked on the farm and at the Carpenters Trade for his uncle until he was married on February 5, 1852 to Anna Luke Donut. He then moved on a farm one and a half miles northwest of Edon where he lived until the outbreak of the Rebillion.

Following are the relatives, from a distance, who attended Amos' funeral: Levi, Malinda and Samuel Myers of Waterloo, IN; Mrs. James Myers and Benjamin Myers of Butler, IN; Joseph Gill and family Fremont, Steuben Co., IN; and H. W. Myers and Adrian Myers of Mishawaka, St. Joseph County, IN
