Lucille E. Brown, 83, Chanute, died Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2000, at Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center.
She was born Jan. 27, 1917, in Savonburg, the daughter of Harvey and Emma Olsen Ludlum. She attended school in Elsmore and helped on the family farm.
She helped her husband operate the Standard Oil Bulk Agency and retired in 1968. They moved to Humboldt in 1945 and to Chanute in 1963.
She was a member of the Methodist church and a past matron of Order of Eastern Star.
She married David E. Brown in Iola on March 30, 1938, and he died March 21, 1981. She also was preceded by a daughter, Phyllis I. Brown; two brothers, Arthur and Lawrence Ludlum; and an infant sister, Ruby Ludlum.
She is survived by two sons, Neal E. of Chanute and Darrel L. of Wimberley, Texas; three daughters, Beverly A. Wicker of Prairie Village, Sharon K. Minckley of Colony and Carol J. Nelson of Mannford, Okla.; two brothers Wilburn Ludlum of Moran and Harrison Ludlum of Humboldt; three sisters, Edith Bolinger of Wichita, Evelyn Richards of Chanute and Gladys Brooks of Moran; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at First Christian Church, with the Rev. David Cauley officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Humboldt. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. today and 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Friday.
