Son of Robert and Mary (Quince) Laverty.

In 1841 Robert F. Laverty married Nancy McNamara, at Worcester, Massachusetts.

On 6 Jun 1861 Robert mustered into service with the 15th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry, being credited to the quota of Worcester, Worcester County, Massachusetts. He was 43 years, 9 months and 25 days old.

Robert and his brother, William H. Laverty, served together in the 15th Massachusetts.

After the death of his first wife Robert, 49, married Bridget Carr On 14 Sep 1866 at Worcester, Massachusetts, in a second marriage for both.

Robert was a member of the George H. Ward Post 10, G. A. R. in Worcester. The Post 10 record says that he was born in Glasgow Scotland. He served as a Sergeant in Co. I of the 15th MA.
