His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Marys Catholic Church in Bryant, with the Rev. John Short officiating. Burial will be in St. Marys Catholic Cemetery in Bryant with military honors by the Bryant American Legion Post No. 37.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the church in Bryant, with a wake service at 7 p.m. Osthus Funeral Home in Bryant is in charge of arrangements.
Robert Bob Barker was born Feb. 6, 1926, near Loyalton, to Dorsey and Blanche Barker. He moved to a farm near Ipswich with his parents and graduated from Ipswich High School in 1944. Following graduation, he was drafted into the Army. After his discharge from the service, he returned home to farm.
In 1948, he married Dolores Hansen in Aberdeen. They farmed until 1955 when they moved into Bryant and started the Gamble Hardware Store.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Dolores; three daughters, Susan (Randy) Holiday of Hayti, Sharon (Greg) Nicholas of Dakota Dunes, and Carol (Eugene) Mack of Castlewood; two sons, Michael (Sue) Barker of Bryant, and Donald (Monica) Barker of Bryant; 18 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Dean (Katherine) Barker of Bismarck, N.D., Darrell (Carla) Barker of Minnesota, and Hollis (Verla) Barker of Arkansas; one brother-in-law, Tom Radabaugh of Mobridge; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jean Marie Barker; a sister, Dolores; and an infant brother.
