Son of William (1808-1851) and Catherine Nicholson.
Married to Margaret (Peggy) Keefer
Children of Benjamin and Margaret are:
Mary Ann (Workman), Irvin, Lucy, Weldon and Benjamin
Siblings Magdalena, born 1846 and Julian, born 1839, are on the 1850 census but not thereafter.

Family history of Benjamin tells us that he was taken right off of the farm field to enlist in the war, without choice. He went awol at one point, returning home from missing his wife so much. It is then that she got pregnant with their son Benjamin Jr. (my Great Grandfather.) A "friend" turned him in, and he returned to his regiment. He was captured and sent to Libby Prison, then Andersonville.
