David Nicholson, aged 78, a prominent citizen of Springfield township, died at his home there yesterday. He was a farmer and resident of Springfield township and greater part of his life.
He was a veteran of the Civil War, having served for three years in the 85th Pennsylvania regiment.
Deceased is survived by his wife and three children, John H. of Springfield township, Frank of Moyer, and a daughter, Mrs. Amos Elford, of Springfield township.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Friday from the residence, interment will be made in the Normalville U.B. cemetery
David is the son of William (1808-1851) and Catherine Nicholson.
William is believed to be buried with Catherine, but neither have a headstone.
Siblings of David also listed on the 1850 census are Julian, born 1839, and Magdalena, born 1846, but not on subsequent census records.
