William E. Ihms, well-known retired farmer of Muscatine county, died at 4 p.m. Monday at his home. 1105 West Seventeenth Street, Davenport, following a year's illness.
Born in Germany April 13, 1864, Mr Ihms received his education in the schools there, and came to America and directly to Walcott Nov. 2, 1881. He married Lizzie Dittmer in Davenport Feb. 22, 1893. The couple was engaged in farming in Muscatine county near Walcott until 1920, when they retired and moved to Davenport. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary Feb 22, 1943, Three sisters and two brothers preceded him in death.
Surviving are his wife, a daughter, Mrs Alfred A. Paustian of Tipton, a son, Elmer Ihs of near Stockton; five grandchildren, Mae E and Vernon A. Paustian, Mrs Emil Johansen and Jeanette D and Virgil E. Ihms, and a sister, Mrs Mary Staterau of Lakefield, Minn.
The body was removed to the Runge mortuary, from where the funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in the Walcott cemetery.
