Mrs. Peter Sandkamp of Lakefield, who passed away last Tuesday, Oct. 8, was interred in the family lot in the Sioux Valley cemetery last Thursday afternoon. Funeral services were held at the Schulz Funeral Home in Lakefield at 1:30 and at the Lakefield M. E. Church at 2 o'clock Thursday, Rev. Herbert Marsh of Spirit Lake officiating in the absence of the Lakefield pastor.

Mrs. Sandkamp was a resident of Sioux Valley 22 years, retiring from the farm in 1914 and had since made her home in Lakefield except for a few years in Sioux City, Iowa and Clear Lake, S. D.

Mrs. Peter Sandkamp passed away suddenly early Tuesday morning without a word and scarcely a movement, the spirit winging its flight from the worn body at about 5 o'clock. She had fallen into that sleep from which there is no earthly awakening.

It was a great shock to the many friends of the family. Mrs. Sandkamp was taken sick about two weeks ago with a severe cold which developed into pleurisy. She was taken to the Windom hospital but her heart gave out and she could not combat the disease.

Mrs. Sandkamp was a kindly lady, loved by all with whom she came in contact. Quiet in manner and speech, yet steadfast and true to her convictions of right, she won and held the esteem of countless true friends.

She was a loving mother, a tender and devoted wife, a dependable and trustworthy friend and neighbor, ever ready to extend a helping hand to those in need.

Mrs. Sandkamp was born in Schlesen, a little village near Kiel, in Germany. She came to America in 1883 to Davenport, Iowa, and was married to Peter Sandkamp in 1884, they living there until 1892. In that year they bought a farm in Sioux Valley township and resided there until they moved to Lakefield.

Mr. and Mrs. Sandkamp lived together for 51 years, celebrating their Golden Wedding last year in December.

To this union, were born nine children, one daughter and five sons. Three children preceded the mother in death in infancy.

She is survived by her husband and the following children: Herman of Lakefield, Minn., Otto of Lake Park, Mrs. A. J. Mayer of Elkton, S. D., Charles of Lake Park, Walter of Gennville, Minn., Louis of Round Lake, Minn., and 14 grandchildren.

She is also survived by two brothers, Charles and William Ihms of Davenport, Iowa, and one sister, Mrs. Julius Stoterean of Lakefield, Minn., and many other relatives and friends.

Pall bearers (sic) were: Theo. Schroeder, Fred Wolfe, Fred Ahrenstorff, Henry Zishka, Will Peters and Chas. Schlopkuhl.
