MRS. MATT1E ROGERS
DIED MONDAY LAST
This morning about 6:20 o'clock
Mrs. Mattie B. Rogers died at the
home of her brother, Mr. Chappell
Beacham, after an illness of some
time, with tuberculosis.
Mrs. Rogers was a native of this
county and was the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Lewis Beacham, who were
also natives of Laurens. She was
about 56 years of age at the time
of her death and is survived by one
son, Mr. M. A Rogers of this city,
one sister. Miss Fannie Beacham,
and four brothers, Messrs L. C , Cicero,
Chappell of this county and
Braxton Beacham of Orlando, Fla.
Besides, she had a great many
relatives in this and adjoining counties.
She was a member of the Methodist
Church and a woman, of high
Christian character. She was ill for
a long time, and bore her suffering
patiently and with Christian fortitude.
Her death, although not unexpected
will be a Shock to all of her
many friends in this city and county,
and all of them extend their sincere
sympathy to her surviving relatives.
The funeral of Mrs. Rogers will
be conducted from her late residence
tomorrow morning at 10.30,
Dr A. M Williams of the Methodist
Church will preach the funeral
sermon, and her interment will be
in Northview Cemetery. Mr R Lee
Miller has charge of the funeral arrangements
