Aane A. Aaby was the 7th of 8 children born to Aslak and Aaste Nilsdtr. Graavum Aaby. Aane was born at his parents' farm in Dodge County, MN. His parents were amongst the first Norwegian immigrant homesteaders in the county. Aane and Caroline, his first wife, had two sons: Arthur and Alvin Aaby. Caroline died after only a few years of marriage.

Aane then married Anna Sampsonsdatter Berge February 23, 1894, in Dodge County, and they had four children: Roy, Elmer, Ada and Stella. Anna was the granddaughter of Anna Kristensdatter Fjerestad and Peder K. Ese, also among the early settlers of Dodge county.

Anna, wife of Aune, was my grandfather, Olai Fjerstad's 2nd cousin.

Anna's obituary cites that she and Aune and family moved in 1917 to LaPorte, MN; and in 1923 to a farm NE of Estellline, SD. Aune died just 5 years into their life in South Dakota. Anna remained at the farm home in SD until her death. Her body was transported to Hayfield for a funeral at Trinity Lutheran Church and then burial next to Aune at Fairview Cemetery.
