Alvin was born to Caroline and Aune Aaby, one of two sons. Caroline died very young. Aune remarried to my g.grandmother Sethone P. Fjerestad's first cousin, Anna S. Berge. Sethone and Anna were good friends, both born in Balestrand, Norway and immigrated to Minnesota. Anna married Aune Aaby after Caroline died, and along with their children, she raised Alvin and Arthur, sons from Aune's first marriage.
