95-YEAR OLD RECIEVES AND OWOSSO HIGH SCHOOL DIPOLOMA

FIVE GENERATIONS of the Pearl Francis family gathered for a family portrait and to celebrate.

Pearl E. Francis
Age 101, of Owosso, passed away Friday, January 16, 2004, at Shiawassee County Medical Care Facility.
Mrs. Francis retired from Redmonds in 1967, and also worked at the Candy Factory and Christians.
Services will be held at Mowen Funeral Home, Monday, January 19, 2004, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Norman Beckworth officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Visitation at the funeral home will be Sunday from 2 to 7 p.m. and Monday from 12 noon to 1 p.m.
Mrs. Francis was born in Brant, May 17, 1902, the daughter of Charles Boone and Ethel E. (Fuller) Boone. She attended Limbocker School in Brant, and had resided most of her life in Owosso. She received her honorary high school diploma from the Pathways Alternative and Adult Education Program through Baker College in 1997. On November 20, 1920, she married her husband of 52 years, Claude R. Francis, in Saginaw. They build their home on Woodlawn Ave., in 1935.
She was a member of Trinity Methodist Church; Owosso VFW for 52 years; State Treasurer of Kings Daughter; the Golden Agers; the Shiawassee Garden Club; and the last surviving charter member of the Owosso Eagle Aerie.
Survivors include; son, Kenneth Francis of Vancover, Washington; daughters, Ethelyn and Milo Spencer of Owosso, Sharon and Lin Rosencrants of Davidson; 20 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren, daughter-in-law, Sally Francis of Arizona; two sisters-in-laws Beatrice and Ella Boone.
She was predeceased by: Husband, Claude; two sons, Max and Harold Francis; three brothers, Lavergne, Clarence and Garrison Boone; sister-in-law Vivian Boone.
Pearl's favorite expression was "Don't let the rocking chair get in the way of your life. Never sit down, fold your hands, and find that to be easier than living."
Memorials may be made to Shiawassee County Medical Care Activities Center or Trinity Methodist Church.
