Gladys F. Wegs age 96 a resident of St. Vincent's Home in Quincy, Illinois, formerly of Mt. Sterling, Illinois passed away at 5:10 p.m. Friday, August 4, 2006 at the nursing home

Born December 1, 1909 in Brown County, Illinois a daughter of Henry Elza & Rachel Crooks Flynn, Gladys married Frank "Put" Wegs on January 8, 1929 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Mt. Sterling; he preceded her in death January 4, 1989.

Mrs. Wegs was a Homemaker and had also worked for Flynn's Market in Mt. Sterling for several years. She attended Brown County Schools and was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Mt. Sterling.

She was also a member of the Mt. Sterling American Legion Post #374 Auxiliary and the Knights of Columbus Council No. 1281 Auxiliary.

Mrs. Wegs always enjoyed playing cards with her friends, raising flowers, watching birds, going for walks and fishing.

She also loved having her family and friends for big family dinners.
She was known as a great cook and everyone loved her noodles.

Survivors include 3 children:

Dr. J. Robert Wegs (Joyce) of Mishawaka, Indiana
Betty Jansen (Gene) of Quincy, Illinois

A sister-in-law:
Jean Flynn of Fulton, Missouri

A family friend Olive Fite of Macomb, Illinois also survives along with several nieces, nephews and her many friends

She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 son Harry Wegs, 2 grandsons John O. Wegs and Kenneth E. Wegs, 1 granddaughter Cheryl Lynn Wegs, 6 brothers Clarence, Guy, Richard, Henry, Charles and Harold Flynn and 4 sisters Edna Long, Ada Deters, Alberta Flynn and Emma DeWitt.

A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 10, 2006 in the Holy Family Catholic Church in Mt. Sterling; Father Thomas Henseler officiating
Burial in the Mt. Sterling Catholic Cemetery

Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 Wednesday evening at the Hendricker Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling
A rosary service will be held at 7:30 Wednesday evening at the funeral home
