Son of Otis Shaffer and Rosa Vernon. Husband of Dorothy Oakley.

MADISON — Aldine Shaffer, 79, passed away Sunday, July 29, 2012, at Pioneer Community Hospital in Danbury surrounded by his loving family.

A 2 p.m. funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 1, 2012, at Ray Funeral Home Chapel in Madison, NC with Rev. Boyd Joyce officiating. Interment will follow at the Buffalo Cemetery in Sandy Ridge.

A Stokes County native, Aldine was born November, 4, 1932, the son of Otis and Rosa Vernon Shaffer. Aldine had lived in Madison most of his life. He was a member of Delta United Methodist Church in Sandy Ridge. Aldine was a self-employed real estate Broker for over thirty five years and was employed at Sears Catalog Sales in Greensboro for nineteen years. He was a U.S. Army veteran.

In addition to his parents Aldine was preceded in death by his son, Brad Shaffer and his sister at birth.

Aldine is survived by his loving wife of sixty years, Dorothy Oakley Shaffer of the home; daughter, Denise Williams of Christiansburg, VA; daughter-in-law, Nell Shaffer of Huntersville; 5 grandchildren, Travis Williams, Elliott Williams of Christiansburg, VA; Nathan Shaffer , Erin Shaffer of Charlotte and Danielle Williams of Christiansburg, VA; special great granddaughter, Zoiee Elizabeth Williams of Christiansburg, VA; sister-in-law Margie Grogan and husband Ted of Madison; brother-in-law, Tom Jones of Rural Hall and one niece and one nephew.

The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at Ray Funeral Home and other times at the family home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Buffalo Cemetery Fund c/o of Juanita Joyce, 1693 NC Highway 770 Sandy Ridge, NC 27046.

The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Samuel Newsom and the staff at Pioneer Community Hospital in Danbury for the compassionate and loving care of Aldine during his days with them.
