George M. Ellis(Matt) Sr. died at 8 AM, Wednesday, May 21, 1975, at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital. He was 83, a native of Roseland and a resident of Baton Rouge. He was a retired boilermaker. Body at Rabenhorst Funeral Home from 10 AM to 10 PM Thursday an after 8 AM Friday. Funeral services at 10 AM Friday at the funeral home, Rev. J. Garland McKee officiating. Burial in Greenoaks Memorial Park. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mildred Newman Ellis, Baton Rouge; four daughters, Mrs. Hugh (Mildred) Dykes, Port Gibson, Miss., Mrs. Earl (Claire) Heil, Mrs. Hazel Rose Blum and Mrs. H.E. (Adda B.) Wright, all of Baton Rouge; two sons, George M. Ellis, Jr.,Baker, and Cheney W. Ellis, Houston, Tex.; two sisters, Mrs. Magruder, Baton Rouge, and Mrs. Esther Nichols, Mountain Home, Idaho; 23 grandchildren. 25 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He Was a member of Istrouma Baptist Church, the Woodmen of the World, and the Boilermakers Local No. 582. Pallbearers are grandsons, Walter Blume, Jr., Howard Wright, Sam Euggino, David Ellis, Johnny Proffitt, Clayton Carney and Willie Dykes.
