Elliot Eugene (Rusty) Sparks
MONTPELIER - Elliot Eugene (Rusty) Sparks, 80, passed away in the Bear Lake Memorial Skilled Nursing Facility on April 27, 2009, of cancer. 
He was born August 15, 1928, to Elliott B. Sparks and Mona Nowland in Dingle, Idaho. He attended school there and when he was old enough to work it was for the local ranchers, Cecil Quayle and the Nate Brothers. Rusty's favorite spot was Sage Valley.
Rusty served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955. He served all his time in the United States.
Rusty worked for the Union Pacific Railroad putting ice in refrigerator cars in Montpelier and in Nampa, Idaho. When he returned to Dingle he worked for Stauffer Chemical Co., in Leefe, Wyo.
He married Florann Jenkinson of Montpelier December 10, 1966. They had four children. The marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Temple May 1972. They were later divorced.
In his retirement years he lived at the Aspen Wood apartments in Montpelier, where all the ladies there really appreciated the help he gave them. He delivered meals for the Bear Lake Senior Citizens Center for eight years and served on the board for six years.
Rusty was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and had served as a Sunday school president
Rusty is survived by his ex-wife, Florann; and children, Barbara (Paul) Hemmert of Springville, Utah, Michael (Jennifer) of Montpelier, Joanne (Scott ) Jensen if Ovid, and John (Melissa) of Rigby; brothers and sisters, JoAn Koeven of Dingle, Sandra (Paul) Hartley of Spanish Fork, Utah, Darla (Lynn) Lloyd of Dingle, Mardell (Dixie) of St. George, Utah, and Allan (Pudge) of Montpelier. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and two brothers.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, April 30, 2009, at noon at the Dingle LDS Chapel. Friends may call prior to services from 10 to 11:45 a.m. Interment will be in the Dingle Cemetery.
