In late 1870 or early 1971 the Kosters must have left Virginia, as the family appears in the Virginia Census in 1870, but was in Paterson, New Jersey on August 1, 1871, when daughter Rowena aka Dregina was born.
In May of 1872, Hendrikus Kosters, with his wife and five children, and Gerrit Nijkamp (Nykamp) with his wife and two daughters, came at last to a place where they would spend the rest of their lives. The Kosters-Nijkamp families both homesteaded in West Branch Township on Section 18, located about 3 miles west of Sioux Center, in the western part of Iowa. In 1875 and 1877 the Kosters had there their sons Hendrikus (Henry) and Albert.
Aaltjen died between 1877 and June 1880, very probably in West Branch Township, Sioux County, Iowa.
