Regarding the terrible Tornado that hit Sioux county on May 3, 1895.
'Of the family of John Koster, residing a mile north, he is the only one uninjured. His wife was blown away with the house and was picked up dead fully a quarter of a mile away. Mrs. Koster was 29 years of age.' Two of the Kosters children also died from their injuries.
This was determined to be the couple married Feb 23, 1887, Jan Kosters of Sioux Center a farmer age 23, born at Riessen, Netherlands to Heindrik Kosters and Aaltje Bonnekos, married to Heintje Marks living at Sioux Center, age 21, born at Voorst Gelderland Netherlands to Gerhard/Gerrit Marks and Geesken Oldenkamp.
Rev. DePree of the First Reformed church of Sioux Center recorded the death of Mrs. Kosters age 30 died May 4, 1895 and a Kosters child died on May 4, 1895.
However, in 1900 census living in Center Township Sioux county, John Kosters had married again on the 28th of Aug 1895 to Anna Zommermand age 21.
Mother- Aaltjen Bonninghorst (1834-1877)
