Son of Jacob and Christena Lucas Champer, was given the name of both his father and grandfather, and could therefore be referred to as Jacob Champer III.
He was married to Elizabeth Ernst, daughter of Daniel and Nancy Kesey Stenger Ernst, who was born November 27, 1799, and died December 25, 1886.
Records in the Carroll County Court House, as well as those in the Maffett collection, indicate that Jacob III and his younger brother, David, were business partners, most likely in operation of the Champer Flour Mill.
Jacob III and Elizabeth are buried in the Champer Cemetery. They had eleven children:
