Mrs. Lucinda Maffett died Monday in her home on the extension of South High Street after a lingering illness, which was primarily due to a nervous shock sustained about a year ago when her home was struck by lightning, rendering her unconscious. Since May she declined rapidly, and during her illness was lovingly cared for by her children. She was buried Wednesday in Grandview cemetery. The funeral services was conducted by her pastor, Rev. Brown, of Augusta, assisted by Rev. H. M. Rader, of Carrollton.
Her maiden name was Champer, and she was born June 22, 1836, on the Champer farm, near town, and passed her entire life in this vicinity. She was married February 2, 1863, to Alfred Maffett, who died October 27, 1885. She is survived by the following children; J. M., J. J., Catherine, Will and Elmer, of Carrollton. Israel Champer is a surviving brother, Mrs. Sarah Staley a sister. She was a member of the Christian Church.
NOTE: In her obituary they had her birth year as 1836, and headstone has 1834.
