CORYDON DEMOCRAT OBITUARY - 2004
Claude E. Rainbolt Sr., died: Wednesday, August 18, 2004. Age: 77. A native of Corydon, born July 6, 1927, he was the son of the late Alfred Z. & Anna Dora Crecelius Rainbolt. He was an Army corporal during WW II, a lifetime member and past commander of the Salem VFW Post 6636, past commander and member of Salem American Legion Cecil Grimes Post 41, and a charter member and former secretary of the Salem Moose Lodge 2380. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Robert Rainbolt, 4 sisters and 3 brothers. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, the former Nancy L. Fulkerson; 2 sons, Claude E. Jr. & Alan Rainbolt, both of Campbellsburg; 3 daughters, Cheryl Hacker and Cynthia Rainbolt, both of Salem, and Patricia Zink of Campbellsburg; 2 brothers, Elmer & Bob Rainbolt, both of Corydon; a sister, Yvonne Knaesel of New Albany; 9 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. The funeral was Sunday at Dawalt Funeral Home in Salem with burial in Crown Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Randy Nation officiated. Military rites were performed at the gravesite.
