An amazingly well respected man, Nathaniel was elected as a representative of Middletown to the General Court eight-five times, being about 81 the last time he was appointed.
He married a girl named Elisabeth in about 1651, but nothing is known of her other than her marriage to Nathaniel. She was the mother of his eight children. They were:
1. Nathaniel White (1652-1742)
2. Elizabeth White Clark (1655-1711)
3. John White (1657-1748)
4. Mary White Cornwell Bacon (1659-1732)
5. Ensign Daniel White (1661-1739)
6. Sarah White Smith (born 1664)
7. Jacob White (1665-1738)
8. Joseph White (1667-1726)
After Elisabeth died in 1690, Nathaniel remarried to the mother of two of his daughters-in-law. Her name was Martha Mould, widow of Hugh Mould and daughter of John Coit. Her husband and father had both been well known ship builders. Nathaniel died in Middletown and was buried next to his first wife.
