Mr. Alford was born in Florence Co. on August 12, 1932, a son of the late Ellie Parker Alford and Alice Hyman Alford. He grew up in Florence Co. served in the U. S. Army, and was a graduate of Andrews High School. Mr. Alford retired as Market Manager after forty years employment with the Andrews Piggly Wiggly. He also was a farmer for most of his life. Mr. Alford was a member and Deacon of Andrews Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Alford was predeceased by his wife, Patricia Ann Kennedy Alford.
Surviving are: a son Andrew S. Alford (Vivian) of Goldsboro, N. C.; three brothers, Rutledge Alford (Kizzie), Ethridge Alford (Dora), and John Henry Alford (Mary), all of Andrews; a sister, Evelyn Swails of Andrews; two grandchildren, Sarah Wyse and Jenny Alford, both of Goldsboro, N. C.
Funeral services will be two o'clock Friday afternoon, February 12, 2010, at Andrews Presbyterian Church. Officiating will be the Rev. William Stockton. Burial will follow in Andrews Memorial Cemetery.
