John M Bantum, 70,died at his home, 109 N. Second St.at 9:30 Tuesday evening following an extended illness which followed a stroke of paralysis five months ago.
He was born in Bethlehem twp. on October 29, 1852. The greater part of his life was spent on a farm near Prairie Chapel. Twelve years ago he moved to Coshocton, and up until the time he suffered the stroke, he was employed at the Beach enameling plant.
John Bantum was united in marriage with Miss Margaret Bell Sept. 10, 1877. She survives him. Seven children were born to this union, two having preceded him to the grave. The five surviving children and, Marshall Bantum of Pleasant Valley, Clyde Bantum and Mrs. Edward Shaw of Coshocton, Robert Bantum and Mrs. Helen Coen of the home. He also has 14 grandchildren living.
Three brothers and four sisters also survive. They are James, Charles & Bern Bantum of Warsaw, Mrs. John Randles, Mrs. Rollo Cochran, and Mrs. Ida Funk of Coshocton, and Mrs. James Richison of the Warsaw vicinity.
Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:30 at the home 109 North Second St.. Burial will be in South Lawn Cemetery.
