David Jorgensen, 79, of Northwood, died Friday (May 6, 1988) at a Rochester, Minn. hospital. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at First Lutheran Church, Northwood. The Rev. Mark Gravdal and the Rev. Edward Zaiser will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Rest Cemetery, Northwood. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Sunday at Hogan-Bremere-Conner Colonial Chapel, Northwood.
Mr. Jorgensen was born June 20, 1908, in Wisner, Neb. to Peter and Marie(Petersen) Jorgensen. He attended country schools in Brazille Mills, Neb.
On Dec. 22, 1934, he was married to Esther Green in Norfolk, Neb. He was employed as a carpenter and did various maintenance jobs for the people of Northwood.
He was a member of the First Lutheran Church and past member of the council. He was a charter member and active in the Izaak Walton League of Northwood. He worked with the boy scouts and participated in RAGBRAI, the bicycle ride across Iowa.
He enjoyed working with wood and especially making wooden toys.
Survivors include his wife, Esther of Northwood; three daughters, Marilyn Probst of Cat Springs, Texas; Beth Boelsen of Nora Springs and Elaine Zobel, Sioux City; one son, Larry of Northwood; three sisters, Bertha Scheer of Spring Valley, Minn., Alma Hansen and Helen Walker, both of Blair; three brothers, Maurice and Ervin, both of Osage, and Carl of Creighton, Neb.; eleven grandchildren, and one great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two infant children, one brother, three half-brothers, two half-sisters, and one grandchild.
