Sidney Leroy Mace, 81, of 6246 Wards Gap Road, passed away on Tuesday, June 13, 2006 at home.

MEMORIAL SERVICE: Saturday at 6 p.m. at Greene Funeral Service-South Chapel, Gastonia

VISITATION: The family will receive friends Saturday from 5 to 6 p.m. at Greene Funeral Service-South Chapel

PERSONAL HISTORY: Mr. Mace was born Nov. 14, 1924, in York, S.C. to the late Sidney Clayton and Mae Ruff Mace. He served in the Navy for four years during World War II and retired from the Army on Dec. 1, 1963 after 30 years of service

PRECEDED IN DEATH BY: His parents; daughters, Dorothy Cashion and Brenda Cook; a granddaughter, Annette Cook; brothers, Floyd Mace and Herbert Mace; and a sister, Ruby Wooten.

SURVIVORS: A daughter, Janice Mathis and her husband, Robert; a brother, Gene Mace and his wife, Marilyn, of Dallas; a sister, Lorah M. Hill of Gastonia; and numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other people to whom he gave generously to during his life time
