Mr. Paul Montgomery Armes, 80, of 204 Sharpe Avenue, Kannapolis, died Thursday, March 13, 2008, at Carolinas Medical Center-Northeast.Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, March 17, 2008, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Willie Rash will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Monday at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times, they will be at the home of a son, Monte D. Armes, Sr, 406 Glass Court, Kannapolis. Born June 29, 1927 in Wilkes County, he was the son of the late Franklin Callie Armes and Inez Louisa Teague Armes. He retired in 1992 from the No. 7 Weave Room of Cannon Mills, Plant One. Following retirement, he worked part-time at Jordan Oil Company. He was a veteran of the US Navy. Paul was an active member of Centerview Baptist Church for many years. He was also a participant in the cardiac rehab program at the Cannon Heart Center. His hobbies included gardening and cooking and he bowled in several leagues for many years. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Tristan Danny Hagerman.Survivors include his wife, Geneva "Ginny" Hubbard Armes of the home; two sons, Monte D. Armes, Sr. and wife, Marsha, of Kannapolis, Dennis Rodney Armes and wife, Victoria, of Mooresville; a daughter, Linda Armes Mott and husband, John, of Kannapolis; five grandchildren, Karma Armes Kellum, Monte D. Armes, Jr, Amanda Armes, Marissa Armes and Lauren Page; five great-grandchildren, Grayson Kellum, Pressley Kellum, Cameryn Armes, Hayden Armes and Caitlin Armes; and several step-grandchildren. Memorials may be sent to Centerview Baptist Church, 415 Walter Street, Kannapolis, NC 28083.
