He was retired from Cannon Mills.

He and was a member of Goshen Baptist Church.

Mr. Armes served as a sergeant in the United States Army Air Force during World War II.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Clara Belle Russell Armes; two sisters, Lula Belle Foster, Bessie Absher; five brothers, Bill Teague, John Armes, Thea Armes, Challie Armes, and Ivey Armes.

He is survived by: one son, one sister, one brother, one grandson, one step-granddaughter and two step great-grandsons.
