Mrs. Geneva "Ginny" M. Armes, 90, passed away Friday, September 27, 2019 at Bethany Woods Nursing Home in Albemarle after succumbing to Alzheimers.
Ginny was one of six children born to Paul and Myrtle Dunlap Hubbard in Waxhaw.
Her family moved to Kannapolis in the 1930s. In 1947, she graduated from Odell High School and married Paul M. Armes of Wilkes County and together they raised 3 children. After receiving her degree from North State Business College, she went to work at the Data Processing Center for Cannon Mills as the teletype operator, a job she loved until she retired. Ginny was a faithful member in her church and loved singing in the choir. She also had a passion for fashion, reading and crossword puzzles. Until the time of her decline, she was also very active at the local YMCA.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Paul Armes; and one grandson, Danny Hagerman.
She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother and leaves behind two sons, Monte D. Armes, Sr. (Marsha Overcash) and Dennis R. Armes (Victoria Sherill); and a daughter, Linda Mott (John), all from Kannapolis; as well as five grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
A funeral service is scheduled for 12:00 pm Tuesday, October 1, 2019, at Centerview Baptist Church. Rev. Willie Rash will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis. The family will receive friends from 11 to 11:45 am Tuesday at Centerview Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Centerview Baptist Church, 415 Walter Street, Kannapolis, NC 28083, the Alzheimer's Association - Western Carolina Chapter, 4600 Park Road #250, Charlotte, NC 28209, or to Hospice Of Stanly & The Uwharrie, 960 N. 1st Street, Albemarle, NC 28001.
