Julia Houtkooper, 71, of Sioux Center died Tuesday in Mesa, Ariz. Services were held Saturday in the Central Reformed Church in Sioux Center. The Rev. Dennis Wilcox officiated. Also officiating was Rev. Gerrit Docter. Burial was at Meniory Gardens Cemertery. Family visitation was Friday at the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home.
Mrs. Houtkooper, the former Julia Menning, was born July 21, 1911, at Corsia, S.D.
She married Elmer Houtkooper June 19, 1935. at Harrison, S.D.
Survivors include her husband, one son, Virgil of Hull, two daughters, Mrs. Daryl (Elaine) Doorenbos of Le Mars and Mrs. Ronald (Vera) Dieck of Hull; one brother, Charles of Orchard, Neb., three sisters, Mrs. Heyme (Susie) Kade of Mesa, Mrs. Art (Rena) Beukelman of Corsia and Mrs. James Maynard (Gertrude) Duffield of Costa Mesa, Calif., and nine grandchildren.
A memorial has been established in her name with the Hillcrest Care Center at Hawarden.
