Mrs. Blackmon Dead At The Age of 95
Passes Away at Her Home North of Columbus - Funeral This Afternoon
~Mrs. Mariah Blackmon, aged 95 years, died at the residence of her son, Mr. W. M. Blackmon, nine miles north of the city yesterday morning at 11:30 o'clock, of general debility.
~The deceased was one of the best know and most highly esteemed ladies in her section, and was beloved by all who knew her. She was a devoted Christian, being a devout member of the Shady Grove Baptist church in Harris county, and her loss will be a sad one to the community in which she lived.
~She is survived by three children, Messrs. W.K. Blackmon; Alfred Blackmon and Miss Ida Blackmon, all of Muscogee county. She is the grandmother of Messrs. Walter, Marshal J. and F.C. Blackmon, of Columbus had has quite a number of other grandchildren, as well as great-grandchildren and one or two great-great grandchildren to survive her.
~The funeral will take place from Shady Grove church this afternoon at 2 o'clock, the services being conducted by the Rev. W. T. Bartley and interment will be in the family burying ground at the same place.
~The bereaved family have the deepest sympathy of their many friends in the sad loss they have sustained.
