Frank came to Polk County from North Carolina in 1846, it is thought because his wife Elizabeth Davis wanted to join her family who were already there. Elizabeth's mother, Elizabeth Pettit, was the daughter of Revolutionary War Patriot George Pettit who is buried in Mountain Springs Cemetery.

Frank and Betsy were parents of fourteen children and were successful farmers until Frank died in 1855, and then during the War between the States their farm and buildings were practically destroyed by frequent Union raids into the county.

Most of the boys moved West with only four of their children remaining in Polk County.

Family lore is that Frank and Betsy are buried in Boanerges in unmarked graves.

Note: I did not check the accuracy of the following statement, nor the relationship of the submitter, but Roland Monette wanted it added. RolandMonette at charter.net

"Frank Vest died of pneumonia in 1859. His wife, Elizabeth W. Betsy Davis, was daughter of Thomas Davis (1789-1862) and his first wife Ann Francis Hill (1787-1830). Elizabeth Pettit was Tom Davis' second wife (Betsy Vest's step-mother). She and Tom went to Tennessee with Frank and Betsy Vest."

Ann Frances Davis was not his wife. His wife was her eldest daughter.
