Henry Colonel Bennefield, 77, of Abbott, Texas died Thursday in the West Community Hospital in West, Texas.

Bennefield was a native of McIntosh County, Oklahoma and a Borger resident for 26 years. He was a former employee of the Phillips Petroleum Company and a member of the Church of God.

Services will be held in the Aderhold Funeral Home and Chapel in West with the Rev. E.J. Barnes officiating. Graveside services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday in Hossman [sic], Okla.

Bennefield is survived by his wife; sons David Bennefield of Abbott and Dan Bennefield of Little Rock, Ark.; a daughter, Brenda Porter of Huntington Beach, Cal.; brothers Irvin Bennefield of Boynton, Okla., Porter Bennefield of Dallas, Oregon and William Bennefield of Dewey, Okla.; sisters Luella Leard and Addie Leard of Checotah, Okla., Sue Smith of Tulsa, Okla., Martha Tate of League City, Texas, Sally Millhouse of Alice, Texas and Leona Barnes of Bartlesville, Okla.; and four grandchildren.
