ROGERSVILLE – Garnie L. (Bob) Thacker, age 71, Rogersville, died Sunday, Oct. 31, 1999, at Holston Valley Hospital and Medical Center.

He was a life-long resident of Hawkins County and was a member of Caney Creek Baptist Church. He was retired from Dodge Reliance Electric, Rogersville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Alice Anderson Thacker; three brothers, Elbert, Dave and James; and two sisters, Mary Nell Rollins and Virginia Horton.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Wanda Gibson Thacker of the home; a daughter, Charlotte Lipe, Rogersville; a son and daughter-in-law, Garnie C. and Brenda Thacker, Rogersville; grandchildren, Chris Lipe and Beth Anne Alvis, Ashley Thacker and Frankie, all of Rogersville; a brother, Herman Thacker, Eidson; sister, Minnie Allen, Salem, IN, Betty Smith, Mooresburg, and Beatrice Gibson, Surgoinsville; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be 6 - 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 2, 1999, at Colboch-Price Funeral Home, and any time at the home of Chris Lipe, 681 Caney Creek Road. Services will be held 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 2, 1999, in Colboch-Price Chapel with Revs. R. L. McGee, Edward R. Cottrell and Basil Jones officiating, and the Singing McGee's.

Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 3, 1999, at Thacker-Lipe Memory Garden, 681 Caney Creek Road, Rogersville.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Short, Marv Linkous, Johnny Thacker, Larry Stroupe, Randall Alvis and Elmer James Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Davis, Claude Lawson, Odell Price, Harold Feagins, Claude Parrott, George Bradley and the men of Caney Creek Baptist Church.
