Mrs. Julia Kling, Daughter of Montana Pioneer, Dies

Mrs. Julia Kling, 79, in failing health for two weeks, died Tuesday morning at a local rest home. She was a native of Montana and a daughter of one of the state's pioneers. Her home was at 114 10th St. NW, and she was the widow of Herman F. Kling who died in 1944.
Born in Sheep creek area near Cascade, Oct. 5, 1878, Mrs. Kling was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Austin, early day settlers of Montana territory. She married Herman Kling May 26, 1897. They homesteaded on what is now known as the Novak ranch near Hardy. Nine years later, in 1906, they moved to Great Falls.
Mrs. Kling was a member of the Sons and Daughters of Montana Pioneers and a charter member of the Eagles Auxiliary. She attended the West Side Methodist church.
Survivors include a son, John Kling, Helena; a daughter, Mrs. Helen Allen, Glendale, Calif.; two granddaughters, Mrs. James Kitterman and Mrs. Jack Gallagher of Great Falls, both of whom Mrs. Kling reared from childhood; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Sarah Grills, Great Falls; brothers, Boone Austin, Cascade, and Thomas Austin, Jefferson, Mont., and several nieces and nephews.
