James Austin Rites Will Be Held Today
Funeral services for James W. Austin, pioneer resident of the Sheep creek area, who died Sunday evening at the Deaconess hospital after a lingering illness, will be held this afternoon at 2 o'clock at the W. H. George funeral chapel. Burial will be in Cascade cemetery beside the grave of his father, James W. Austin, who died nine years ago.
Mr. Austin was born at Sheep creek in 1876 on the ranch where his parents had resided since 1866. He was married in Great Falls July 19, 1909. He engaged in ranching but later moved to Great Falls where he was employed as a street car motorman and conductor for 11 years. He also engaged in the restaurant business at Neihart, Cascade and at Salmon City, Idaho. For a time he worked in the mines at Butte and for several years as a news agent on the Milwaukee trains.
Surviving him are three children, Grover, Sheldon and Thelma; five brothers, George and Joe of Cascade, Grover ("Boon"), Tom and Pete, of Jefferson City; and three sisters, Mrs. Nettie Smith of Sheep creek, Mrs. Sarah Grills and Mrs. H. F. Kling, both of Great Falls. For the past nine years he had made his home with Mrs. Kling.
