He married Mildred Hallie Monday on Dec 25, 1926 and again on Nov 10, 1931. She was the daughter of Harvey Wesley Monday and Lydia (Hicks) Cloward. Mildred died Apr 10, 1993 and is buried in Harmony Cemetery in Cumberland County, IL. Mildred was married next to Henry Paul Burgdorff but she's buried under the Knifley name. On the 1940 census her name was Bergdorf and she was living in Cumberland County, IL and listed as widowed. Her inferred residence was listed as Knifely in Adair County.
