CONCORDIA - The funeral for Sister Mary Conrad Brungardt, 79, a member of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Concordia for nearly 62 years will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Nazareth Motherhouse, Concordia. Sr. Mary Conrad died Sunday at St. Mary's Convent, Concordia, where she had been in retirement since 1978. She followed two older sisters, both now dead, into the Concordia congregation on March 19, 1918, and served for many years in missions in the Southwest U.S. She also served missions in Kansas and Illinois.
Surviving are six sisters, Sister Lioba Marie, the fourth member of the family to join the congregation and now a librarian at St. John's High School, Beloit, and Mrs. Mary Bell, Mrs. Anna Wittman, Mrs. Ada Long, Mrs. Kathyrn Hammerschmidt and Mrs. Emma Ubert, all of Hays.
A scripture service will be at 7:30 p.m. at the Motherhouse. Burial will be in the Motherhouse Cemetery.
